Trick or Treat Bags! SO CUTE!!

Halloween is on Monday! Are you ready? ;)
How about topping the cute lil costumes off with a custom trick-or-treat bag?! These are awesome! I made these the last 2 years for my kiddos and got TONS of compliments...And even got an extra handful of candy at a few doors, just for having a cute bag!

Here's the tutorial:
http://yearofsewing.blogspot.com/2010/07/reversible-bag-tutorial.html

Here are some examples of the ones I've made! You can also turn the pattern to make it horizontal (hamburger style) VS vertical (hotdog style)....I liked making them vertical because I found it's easier for the little hands to hold on to. The horizontal ones were too wide and too hard to handle- especially once the bags get candy in them!

Happy creating!! I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween! XXOO

Soft Baby/Toddler Shoe Tutorial {Tucson Photographer, Vail Photographer}

This is such an easy and GREAT gift idea! I've made these shoes the last couple of years for my baby girls, nieces/nephews & friends. These are so soft & so comfortable! Last year I made an Orange pair to go with my daughter's Duck costume. She got a lot of compliments on her personalized Duck shoes! :)
If would like to make several (larger) sizes, just take the pattern to a Kinkos/OfficeMax and use the copy machine to blow the pattern up to the size you need!

Here is the link to the tutorial:

Here are some examples of the ones I've made in the past! Happy shoe making! :)

The sweet ADAMS Family! {Tucson Family Photographer, Tucson Childrens Photographer}

Meet the Adams family! What a nice family this is!  Katrina (AKA: Mom) is my husband's cousin, so I was really excited when she contacted me to do some family portraits for her. They've never had any portraits done as a family of 4. Family portraits for this family were much needed & looong over do! But, look at how CUTE they turned out!

I'd say it was worth the wait ;)

Katrina said she wanted to focus more on the kiddos for this session & she scheduled a second 'couples' session for her and Matt (AKA: Dad) to get more intimate portraits done. (Can't wait!)
Seriously, this brother-sister duo is just the sweetest. Ever!

Braedynn just turned 3 and had never had any professional portraits taken of him. I made sure to put him in the 'spot light'-- he was ROCKIN' that spot light!

And Hannah is such a WONDERFUL big sister. Holy cow! Total sweety to boot! She was hammnin' up those poses for me and I just loved her attitude :)

Katrina, your disk is ready with all your beautiful images! I hope you enjoy these photos for years to come!

Rock The Shot- October Contest! FUN!

Okay, so I normally take part in any contests- but I can't help but get involved in this one by Rock The Shot; as I would love to have any 3 of the prizes!

Rock the Shot

As a photographer I spent a lot of time doing two things:
(1) Rubber necking while I'm driving to find new locations
(2) Coming up with 'brilliant' ideas for themed photo shoots...
I found this pumpkin hat while getting the kids' Fall gear out of the loft and I thought to myself, "Ooooh, this is going to be fun!"
And, so, the story goes on-- I bought this pumpkin at the craft store with the idea that it was hollow. I mean, it WAS lite enough to be a hollow pumpkin. As soon as my husband saw it, he said, "Babe, that's going to be hard to carve." My response? "Babe, it's hollow, silly."
I marched over the kitchen and grabbed a knife.......And......to my surprise, my hubby was right. It was one solid piece of HARD foam. I definitely wasn't strong enough to finish this project. I thought about asking the neighbors to borrow their electric carving knife. I thought about just letting the money I spent on the pumpkin go to waste. --No worries, my husband saved the day!!! He spent a good 30-45 minutes carving this pumpkin out with a kitchen knife. Their was foam everywhere! I am so grateful that he was able to 'save' my 'brilliant' idea!

Women, thank God for our honey's!!! ;-)

Even if I don't place in this contest, it was still fun submitting the photo! Cheers to a wonderful Fall season!

Stud Alert! -- Tucson Photographer, Tucson Family Photographer

Meet this little stud, Aaron Junior! (AKA, "Dugga", "AJ", "Junior)
We've had custody of this little guy for almost a year now & just in the last couple weeks I've noticed a height change, muscle structure change & he's been eating ALL DAY LONG. Oh my- this little boy may not be a 'little boy' much longer!
A.J. attends a year round school district, which keeps him very busy! For the Fall/Winter season, he said he wants to play tackle football. Very fitting sport for a boy with such endurance & speed! ;)

So, we decided to pass on doing the basic school portraits this year, because....well, I AM a photographer! ;)
When we took him shopping to pick out an outfit for his 'big day', you could tell this wasn't something he'd normally pick out. He was throwing a tiny bit of attitude about having to try it on in the store. But, as soon as he put this outfit on the day we did his portraits, he was struttin' around the house like that song, "I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt, too sexy yeeeeaaah". Doesn't he look soooo adorable?!

A.J. still tells us that he wants to be a pro baseball player when he grows up! A boy with such amazing dreams. Yep, he's a cutie for sure!

Easy & Affordable Holiday Gift Idea - Tucson Photographer-

Hi Friends!

With the holidays right around the corner and budgets being tight- I wanted to share a tutorial that I've used the last couple of years to make own gift(s) for the kids! A personalized hooded bath towel? Who wouldn't want one?! ;-) I have used this tutorial to make the hooded towel and then hand sewn names and/or initials on the back of the towels. Or put a capitalized letter on the front of the hood! Cute little animals on the front of the hood works well, too! This is a super easy tutorial and I hope you all give it a try (...even if it's for you- I won't tell anyone!)

Enjoy! And I'd love to see photos of the finished products :-)
